Today, I took delivery of a spanking shiny new HTC TyTN II phone.
Whilst everyone is raving about the Apple iPhone, I think this knocks the spots off anything else. The iPhone may look nice, but so does Paris Hilton – to a certain type of gentleman in a certain light – and would she be much good at downloading your email? No. (Actually, this metaphor is going nowhere…)
It might help if the TyTN II didn’t have a practically impossible name, but I’ve been a devotee of the manufacturer (HTC) for a couple of years now, and the phone itself is a cracker. Email on the go (with nearly-broadband high-speed HSDPA internet), intutive wireless, Blackberry replication, GPS, and above all perfect synchronisation with Outlook. All my contacts transferred at the click of a mouse. Now, when did you last activate a new phone without panicking just in case it lost the lot? Windows Mobile 6 is just fabulous, taking care of all the updating and connectivity without going through loads of configuraton menus.
I’ve also installed Sudoku for those long train journeys, and my ringtone is an embarrassment, but that’s by the by.
Also, much kudos to Orange for taking my order at 6pm and delivering by 3pm the next day (with online courier tracking and text message updates too). Plus, Orange telephone support seems to have got better too- all my calls were answered within 30 seconds, whereas a year or so ago, 15-minute waits were the norm. This may be because I have been deemed a “Premier” customer (lucky me) but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt- let us all know your experiences.
