Dealmaking survey takes the biscuit!

Hold the front page!

Essential news for all entrepreneurs now, as a new survey from hoteliers Holiday Inn suggests that eight out of ten executives believe that the outcome of a meeting can be influenced by your choice of biscuit.

According to the survey, if you want to clinch the deal, be sure to offer the number one treat, (quite rightly, in my view) the chocolate digestive.

In second place was the noble shortbread. Definitely a safe and hardy choice.

In third came HobNobs, although I suspect that chocolate HobNobs would be preferable to “neat” ones.

Frankly, if you can’t stump up one of these three humble offerings, you shouldn’t be having a meeting in the first place. This might be the most helpful piece of research I’ve read this year…

  1. I agree that the choice of biscuits can make or break a deal. I favour an upmarket but safe selection of chocolate and plain biscuits for new business, with Tunnocks Caramel Wafers only for long term clients.
