At last, a decent Twitter client for Windows

Since the lovely people at Microsoft have been kind enough to sponsor this blog, I figured it was only fair that my mobile phone runs Windows (I use an HTC TytnII on Windows Mobile 6 – I know it’s a bit old now, but it does the job just fine).

As a businessy sort of person, Windows smartphones have always served me well; except for one, tiny, little issue. There has never been a decent Twitter client for Windows Mobile. Seriously – they have all been truly terrible. I should know – I’ve tried them all out. Religiously.

And believe me, Twitter matters for business. The press yesterday discovered that those pesky teenagers don’t really use Twitter. No, Twitter is not a new-fangled craze for the kids; it’s all about connecting people who need a one-to-many relationship. And that’s marketers.

Anyhow, you can Bing yourself bags of advice on Twitter marketing; my point today is that I’ve finally found some software that works. So here they are:

1) PockeTwit. It’s gorgeous to use, works seamlessly and supports lots of advanced features like multiple accounts and timelines, clickable hashtags and native support for URL shorteners. (If that last bit sounded to you like “blah bla-blah blah bla hashtags bla blah”, then go here)

2) TwInbox. My other recommendation is TwInbox, which is an add-on for Outlook. Yup – it puts your Twitter timeline into a simple Inbox, along with all your other mail accounts, calendar items, etc. Very handy.

Happy Tweeting! And check out Microsoft’s Small Business Twitter page here: http://twitter.com/Microsoftsb
